It’s been a long while since I updated the world on my progress with “the list”. I have quite a few checked off, so I will have to make two separate post to catch everyone up.
Lets start with Beyoncé, OMG, she is amazing and that is all that needs to be said. But really, fan-freaking-tastic! The woman has to be in impeccable shape because she literally sang and danced hard-core for TWO HOURS STRAIGHT! She rocked my little concert junkie world. I sat in awe the entire time she performed. Oh, and those back up dancers, they were great too. Her fans are like no other that I have seen before, and I have been to a lot of concerts. #FLAWLESS
Way back in the summer, July I think, I was able to see Beauty and the Beast at the Shakespeare Festival with the awesome women in my family. Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my favorite Disney Movies, but seeing in live was so incredible. I was so mad the morning of the show because I had to work…little did I know there was only 1 patient scheduled that day, so I saw my 1 patient and then drove to Montgomery as fast as I could.
I also was able to see Sweeny Todd just a couple of weeks ago, which was awesome too! Living across the street from a Playhouse definitely has its perks, there will be plenty more plays to be watched for the rest of my time living in Mobile.
SIX FLAGS! Six Flags taught me one thing, I cannot hang like I could a couple of yeas ago. My trip to Six Flags was with my Aunt, Uncle, little cousin and her friend…Madison and Brooklyn wore me slap out, but man what a fun day! I believe that is the first time I have ever gone to Six Flags and been completely okay with not riding every single ride at least once, HA! Below is a picture of the start of the day.
And here is what we looked like at the end of the day.
Stay tuned, part 2 will be posted in the next few days!
This past Saturday was my 21st birthday! #14 on the list is to turn 21 and have a blast with my friends and family, well that is exactly what I did. For my birthday I decided to take a trip to see my mom in Sarasota, FL with two of my favorite people! Myself, Lindsey, and Hannah took on this adventure together. We definitely had a blast on this trip. The day after we arrived we all got our nails done and literally shopped till we dropped. I don’t think I have ever shopped that much in one day. The next day we went to see Winter, the Dolphin Tale dolphin (#82). This was such an awesome experience. Clear Water Marina functions as a rehab center for injured animals. They had turtles, dolphins, sea otters, and more! After leaving the Marina we headed over to Orlando to take on Downtown Disney for the afternoon. (visiting Disney is #19). While at Downtown Disney we did MORE SHOPPING. We visited the Harley Davidson store, the Coca-Cola store, Lily Pulitzer, Very Bradley, Columbia, and multiple Disney themed stores of course. We even made friends with a random Disney police officer, his name is Aaron and he is from Ohio. To end the night at Disney we ate at the Rain Forest Cafe, which was awesome! For July 4th we briefly went to a Festival in Palmetto (we expected too much out of the festival, but we did enjoy a couple of songs preformed by Smash Mouth) and we landed at Anna Maria Island for a fire work show that night. We were all decked out in either red, white and blue or something America themed with matching bows and I wore some red lipstick (#41), because well why not?
Here are some of my favorite pictures from the weekend:
It has been a while since I have updated the world on my progress with “the list”. Life has been crazy hectic with finishing my junior year of college while working full-time. Summer has full of work so far, but the fun stuff is coming up next month.
85. Go bowling: So my friends Lindsey and Andrew are really good at getting me to go out and have fun with them when all I really want to do is go home to sleep. One of those fun nights lead to a bowling night. It was a blast and my arm was so sore the next day lol! I had forgotten how fun bowling was. Thanks Lindsey and Andrew for making me have fun, HA!
81. Ride a motorcycle: My 19-year-old brother recently discovered his love for motorcycles, so he bought himself a motorcycle. This makes me so incredibly nervous because people don’t watch for motorcycles as they should. I also pray Alec does not turn into one of those stupid motorcycle drivers the slides in and out between cars. Anyway, I talked him into taking his sister on a joy ride. He was a pretty safe driver with me on the back. It was a huge adrenaline rush, but I’ll stick to driving my Altima.
64. See Florida Georgia Line: My friend Ashley and I decided it would be a great idea to see Florida Georgia Line, Cole Swindell and Kane Brown on 5/13/16…we were right! Those guys sure know how to put on a good show! We had a blast hanging out with them and bumping into Andrew and Lindsey!
46. Go to a concert: Andrew, Lindsey and I went to see Keith Urban, Brett Eldridge, and Maren Morris on 6/15/16 (we might be turning into concert junkies and I’m getting really good at this 3rd wheel thing, HA). We had a great time. And man, can Keith Urban kill a guitar and banjo! I was very pleased with this show.
That’s all for now! I’ll try not to wait so long to update next time. Stay tune for more adventures on the best year of my life (so far)!
#6 Take a Random Road Trip. So when I first made the list I intended for this to be a super long road trip to somewhere that I have never been on a whim, but that is not how exactly how it played out. A couple of nights ago my roommate, our friend/neighbor and I ended up at the Fairhope Pier at random hours of the night. I had never been to the pier in Fairhope before, and now I believe it is my new favorite spot. We had a blast jamming out, singing to the top of our lungs the whole way there and back. We also thoroughly enjoyed swinging in the sand looking out over the water to see the lights of Mobile on the other side. I complain a lot about all the things I dislike about Mobile, but it really is a beautiful place.
#80 Go to a Therapeutic Recreation Conference. This past week I had the great opportunity to attend the Gulf Coast Coming Together for TR conference in Hattiesburg, MS. It was a great day learning about ways to use TR with many different disabilities. We had 2 speakers come from Canada to tell us about TR there and their healthcare systems. A lady from the Shepard Center in Atlanta came to present on Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries as well as how Geocaching could be used in Rec. Therapy. The last speaker of the day presented on drum therapy, literally one of the coolest thing I have seen related to TR. Who knew drums and other instruments could be used to work on many different aspects of a person’s life. It was just a great day all the way around with my wonderful TR family. Oh, and we ate at this place called the “Thirsty Hippo”. It was an interesting place, but they had some killer burgers.
Stay tuned for more #Kelseys100things updates.
This past weekend I volunteered as a camp counselor for Camp ASCAA’s Fun Fish Weekend. ASCCA stands for Alabama Special Camp for Children and Adults. We had campers ranging from teenagers to 50+. I honestly did not at all know what to expect going into this weekend, but I believe this weekend was more than I could have ever imagined it would be!
These are all my new friends that I had the pleasure of spending the weekend with. My life will never be the same because of these people right here. Those campers will tug on your heart without even trying.
Since it was “Fun Fish Weekend,” of course we were fishing basically all weekend. We had one session where we were able to go out on a boat fish and the other sessions we went pond fishing or fished off the dock. My girl Jordan here had an absolute blast out on the boat. She LOVED to “go fast”. Though we didn’t catch any fish while we were out on the boat she still giggled and laughed the whole time. She did manage to catch a few fish when we went pond fishing. Though, she was really more interested in catching boys that she was fish. LOL! We had a rough weekend at times, but we made it and she even told me she MIGHT miss me.
The first night at camp we danced the night away! The Whip and Nae Nae was a big hit with the campers, and let me just tell you, those campers have got some serious moves. Many of them out danced me by a long shot! We had a couple dance battles break out that night as well!
My girl Dani did her best to teach me all of her moves! We danced together a good bit of the night. I wish I had a fraction of the energy this girl has. I also wish I could dance as well as she does!
We made some time for some slow dances too. This kid was one of my buddies throughout the whole weekend, and one of many men who asked for my hand in marriage this weekend.
We had a talent show this weekend as well. As I’m sure you can tell from this picture it was one of the highlights of the weekend. We all sang and danced along with each other. These kids and adults were a whole lot of fun and all had many, many talents!
I left this weekend nearly in tears because I didn’t want to leave. Camp ASCCA will forever hold a special place in my heart! I so wish I could spend my whole summer there with these wonderful people. Telling the campers I would not see them this summer was way harder than I ever imagined it would be, but no worries I’ll be at every weekend event they allow me to be part of ♥
#18: Go to the beach. This past weekend while my mom was in town my brother and his girlfriend, Deanna, decided to road trip to good ole Mobile. While they were here we drove on over to the beach. It was a little chilly, but it was nice to just sit and relax while enjoying their company. My brother even gave us some humor wearing his socks in the water. With summer approaching more beach post will come.
#37: Go to as many South sporting events as possible. I already wrote about my softball game experience, but since then my friends Andrew, Lindsey and I have also ventured out to a basketball game and baseball game. I have enjoyed cheering on the Jags.
#77: Go backpacking. Wow, what an experience. My friend Jake and I went backpacking with the Outdoor Adventures crew at South, there was about 12ish people total on the trip. We went to Providence Canyon State Park in Georgia. It was such beautiful place. I never imagined I would have had so much fun hiking and camping out in the middle of nowhere, but I loved every minute of it. I would love to do something like this again in the future, but first I must get into better shape because those hills don’t play!
#37 is to attend as many home South sporting events as possible. This week I attended our softball game against UAB with my friends Andrew and Lindsey. It started off a slow game, but we pulled through winning 4-0! I had a blast cheering on our girls and eating Nachos, because what is a softball game without Nachos? Maybe this coming week I will go to a basketball game! We had some good photo-bombers too!
#43 is to go home as much as possible. I was able to go home 2 weekends in a row, not necessarily under great circumstances, but I still got to see all those wonderful people I call family again. I even got to see and spend a good amount of time with my brother, Alec, and his girlfriend, Deanna, which was great! I went with my dad’s fiancé, Marissa, to pick up her wedding dress and to scope out a bridesmaid dresses which was a ton of fun. I’m not usually your girly girl who loves those sorts of things, but it was great to spend some time with Marissa and MaKenna talking wedding stuff! October will be here before we know it! I also thoroughly enjoyed watching MaKenna drag Deanna around with a leash like she was a dog.
#76 swing dance! This was added to my list when Jaguar Productions put on a Swing Dance event. It was a fun night full of dancing, listening to an awesome Jazz band and crazy photo booth pictures! Just a side note, dancing will tell you real quick just how out of shape you are!
Also, I am enrolled in a dance class as an elective this semester. We did ballet this week, OH MY GOODNESS, I have a whole new respect for people who do ballet their whole life. Class was Thursday and still today, Sunday, my calf muscles ache with every step! And, watching super athletic guys attempt ballet is quite hilarious. I’m sure some interesting stories will come from this class so I’ll be sure to share them with everyone!
